International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest


International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest is the world’s largest nature aquarium and aquarium layout plant contest. The prize money for the winner of International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest is 1000000 Japanese Yen which is approximately equal to 8400 USD. Second and third prize winners will get a prize money of 2500 USD and 850 USD respectively. International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest (IAPLC) 2014 has received a total of 2320 applications from sixty four countries. Theme of IAPLC is ‘recreation of fish habitat” which is closely associated with origin of planted aquarium. Objective of IAPLC is to define an essential feature of planted aquarium. Recreation of natural habitat for fish, overall composition, long term maintenance of layout work, creator’s technical skills, presentation of natural atmosphere in layout work, and originality of layout work are the judging criteria of International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest.
The judging criteria ‘recreation of natural habitat for fish’ includes expression of underwater environment in layout work and general condition of aquatic plant. By creator’s technical skills, IAPLC judges mean evaluation of techniques in creating and maintaining layout work. Completeness of layout composition and evaluation of planting balance of participants will be measured under the criteria “overall composition and planting balance”. According to IAPLC contest rules, the entries should be unpublished work created by the applicant himself.
