EHEIM CompactON is a good pump based on standard design

The new EHEIM CompactON pumps aren’t entirely new. From looking at the design they bear a striking resemblance to the old Maxi-Jet pumps that have been a mainstay for years. At first, we were looking for EHEIM’s take on this classic design and from the outside, it looks pretty similar.

The EHEIM CompactON powerhead/pump are flexible and affordable units that come in a variety of sizes for different applications. They perform well and being backed by one of the major names in the business will give you a bit more peace of mind vs. going for an unknown pump that may last a week or a decade.

Don’t get us wrong, these are probably great pumps and we’re sure EHEIM has fully vetted these, so you’ll get solid performance overall. Just don’t think these are going to be “new” designs or technology than what is already on the market.

Hopefully we’ll be able to take a closer look to see how these may differ from other similar pumps from Marineland or Newajet. Prices for these range from around $25 to $100 depending on the size.
